GM maize approved for import to the EU

Syngenta's insect-resistant MIR162 genetically modified (GM) maize has been approved by the European Commission for food and feed uses, but not cultivation, in the EU. The move follows the latest "non-opinion" verdict delivered by member states on a biotech product at a GMO Appeals Committee at the end of September.
