EFSA reassuring on dietary exposure to PFAS chemicals

Dietary exposure to a range of toxic chemicals known as perfluoroalkylated substances (PFASs) is well below the tolerable daily intake (TDI) even for high level consumers, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) said in an opinion published last week. PFASs have been used for decades in a range of industrial and chemical applications including as processing aids in impregnation agents for packaging materials, paper, furniture, shoes, cleaning agents, and insecticide formulations.
