CAP must set emissions targets,say MEPs

The future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) should set sustainable energy use targets in the agricultural sector, the European Parliament's Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety agreed last week. MEPs called on the Commission to propose "specific measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote efficiency gains from the use of agricultural land," in a resolution on the EU's strategy for a more sustainable economy.
