US: TSCA reform, despite stalling, drives chemical policy

Reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) might not be poised to progress much, if at all, in 2012, but the pressures that have driven an array of stakeholders to embrace the need for revising the statute are unlikely to dissipate, reports our sister publication Pesticide and Chemical Policy (PCP). The chemical industry and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) acknowledge they must try to forge common ground to move reform forward, but both sides seem to be waiting for the other to blink first.
