Commission clears paper packaging merger

The European Commission has approved The Carlyle Group's acquisition of the Chesapeake Paperboard Business under the EU merger regulation. The Luxembourg-based Chesapeake Paperboard Business manufactures and sells paper-based packaging solutions, namely corrugated paper and paperboard as well as paper and paperboard containers. Carlyle is a global alternative asset manager from the US.
