Greens say opportunity missed on pesticide in baby food rules

Toxic substances must not be allowed in baby food production, Green MEPs argued last week, following the 11 June adoption of the regulation on foods for particular nutritional uses in the European Parliament plenary session in Strasbourg. Parliament backed the Council's first reading position, but the Greens complained that the final legislation will not include their proposal (from the assembly's first reading) to ensure that the most toxic pesticides cannot be used in the production of baby food.
