A delayed strategy to preserve and recycle phosphorus resources in the EU could be coming soon, according to the European Environment Commissioner. Speaking at the First European Sustainable Phosphorus Conference in Brussels last month, Janez Potocnik said that a long-delayed green paper on how to cut waste and inefficiency in the use of this essential mineral was on its way. "I hope to present a green paper on the issue in the coming months," he said following recent reports that the phosphorus green paper is being held up by Commission Secretary General Catherine Day.
