Higher waste targets to be expected, says Potocnik

Since EU waste targets are to be reviewed in 2014, it is very likely that stronger measures will be adopted in a bid to boost economic growth, job creation and lead the EU down the path of a closed loop society, said European Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik. Speaking at the European Resource efficiency forum in Berlin on 13 November, the Commissioner said the higher targets would be part of a broader strategy to drive greater resource efficiency across the member states and integrate greener initiatives into mainstream funding for research.
