The European Commission launched at the end of last month a new consultation on three additional possible exemptions from the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS Directive). In July, the Commission had already opened a consultation on 11 exemption requests from industry. The current request comes from manufacturers of monitoring and control equipment as this product group was previously exempt from the directive.
