US: TV's Dr Oz says yes to mandatory GM labelling

Daytime television host Dr Oz has thrown his support behind the push for mandatory labelling of genetically modified (GM) foods, arguing that consumers have the "right to know" what is in the foods they purchase and consume. "Critics argue GMOs are natural, safe or healthy food and what consumers say is 'just tell me what is a GMO food and what is not. I'll make the choice'," he said during a programme aired on 13 February. "The latest GMO firestorm [is about whether] all the food in your grocery store has a GMO label on it? Should the food industry be forced into mandatory GM labelling?"
