Advocates Challenge State's Climate Plan, Voice Concerns About Environmental Justice

Environmental justice advocates filed a lawsuit June 10 challenging the California Air Resources Board's plan to implement the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (Ass'n of Irritated Residents v. CARB, Cal. Super. Ct., No. 09-509562, 6/10/09).rnThe complaint, which was filed in California Superior Court in San Francisco, alleges that the plan fails to maximize greenhouse gas emissions reductions and protect vulnerable communities, as required by the act (A.B. 32). Plaintiffs further allege that CARB violated the California Environmental Quality Act in approving the plan.
