Evaluations Set for 12 Hazardous Waste Sites On Suitability for Renewable Energy Projects

Twelve hazardous waste sites-some cleaned up and some in the process-have been chosen to be evaluated for possible redevelopment as wind, solar, or small hydropower facilities, the Environmental Protection Agency announced Feb. 23. EPA said it is collaborating with the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) on a project to determine the potential for developing renewable energy production on the sites.
