Court Grants Final Approval of Settlement In Class Action Against DuPont Over PFOA

A federal judge in New Jersey on Aug. 26 gave final approval to an $8.3 million settlement between DuPont and Salem County, N.J., residents who claim they were exposed to drinking water contaminated with toxic chemicals discharged from the company's plant in that county (Rowe v. DuPont, D.N.J., No. 06-1810, 8/26/11). Judge Renee M. Bumb, of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, granted final approval of the class action settlement. Bumb also approved $2,766,390 in attorney fees and $886,244.27 in costs.
