Governor Blocks Regulation Requiring Retrofitting of Backup Diesel Generators

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R) has issued an executive order that rescinds an Iowa Environmental Protection Commission rule that would have required backup diesel generators used in electricity production to be retrofitted with pollution-reducing equipment. Branstad said he issued the order because of the economic consequences of the rule, which would likely have increased utility costs for consumers throughout the state.
