House Passes Bill Exempting Farms Without Oil Spill History From EPA Rule

The House passed legislation Aug. 1 by voice vote that would exempt farms that store up to 10,000 gallons of fuel and have no history of oil spills from federal oil spill regulation.The Farmers Undertake Environmental Land Stewardship Act (H.R. 3158) was approved July 26 by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.The bill would exempt farms with no history of oil spills and with an aggregate storage capacity of no more than 10,000 gallons from the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency's spill prevention, control, and countermeasure rule of 2009 (40 ER 2611, 11/13/09).
