EPA Withdraws From White House Review Guidance Document on Dioxin Cleanups

The Environmental Protection Agency has withdrawn from White House review guidance on safe levels of dioxins in residential soils, saying a February health assessment of dioxins will provide the necessary guidance. An EPA official confirmed the agency withdrew the document from review by the Office of Management and Budget on April 6. The health assessment on dioxins will be used for cleanups at superfund and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act sites, according to EPA. EPA sent the guidance to OMB for review in August 2010 (75 Fed. Reg. 984; 41 ER 1827, 8/13/10).
