Governor Proposes 'Unprecedented' Rules On Methane From Oil, Gas Operations

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) has proposed new rules that would make the state the first to directly regulate methane emissions associated with oil and gas drilling. "These rules will dramatically expand oil and gas control requirements and recordkeeping requirements, and in that sense, they are unprecedented," Hickenlooper said Nov. 18 in announcing the rules. "They cover the life cycle of the oil and gas process, from drilling to production to transportation to maintenance."
