U.S. Lags in Energy Efficiency, Shows Slow Progress, Annual Scorecard Says

The U.S. is far behind other industrialized countries in energy efficiency, according to a July 17 report that ranked America 13 out of 16 for conservation among the world's largest economies. The report by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy said the U.S. is progressing slowly and is making limited progress toward energy efficiency at the national level. "In the United States, a great deal of resources are wasted, and costs have been allowed to remain unnecessarily high," the group said in its second annual "International Energy Efficiency Scorecard."
