EPA Proposes to Limit Toxic Emissions From Off-Site Waste, Recovery Facilities

The Environmental Protection Agency July 2 published a proposed rule (RIN 2060-AR47) targeting hazardous air pollution from facilities that store, treat, recover or dispose of waste, used oil and used solvents (79 Fed. Reg. 37,849). The agency is proposing to amend its national emissions standards for hazardous air pollution for off-site waste and recovery operations to limit emissions from process vents, tanks and equipment leaks at those facilities. If implemented, the proposed rule is estimated to reduce emissions of hazardous air pollutants, including methylene chloride, toluene and methanol, by 211 tons per year.
