Fundamental research work for the development of zero-emission technology for removing trace amounts of toxic heavy metals as well as for recoverying valuable metals from waste water or solid wastes geenrated from various industries such as mining industry, metallurgical industry, metal preocessing industry, electro and electronic industries or nuclear industry was conducted by effectively using polysaccharides contained in biomass generated in agriculture, fishery and food processing industries as wastes to greatly or hopefully entirely diminish the wastes as a whole.
