Key EPA, Interior, Safety Board Nominees Must Be Renominated by Obama in 2014

President Barack Obama will have to start all over again in 2014 filling a bevy of key posts at the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board and Interior Department, among the hundreds of nominations that had not been voted on when the Senate adjourned for the year Dec. 20. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee aides said 10 nominations already cleared by the panel can't be "carried over" to the second session of the 113th Congress in 2014 because Democrats were unable to persuade Republicans to agree to do so late on Dec. 20.
