Bear Baiting in National Forests Risky for Grizzlies, Suit Says

The federal government isn't doing enough to protect grizzly bears in national parks where hunters are allowed to use bait to tempt nearby animals, a new lawsuit alleges. It's been two decades since the U.S. Forest Service last formally evaluated how baiting for black bears may affect the endangered grizzly bear population, WildEarth Guardians said June 5. The group wants the Forest Service and Fish and Wildlife Service to perform another formal assessment taking new information and studies on the topic into account.
