CASAC WARNS EPA LEAD-PAINT DUST STUDY RELIES ON OUTDATED RISK DATA

EPA's science advisers are warning that the agency is relying on outdated risk data to assess the benefits of a controversial rule for reducing children's exposure to lead dust during renovations, a warning that could stall development of the long-awaited regulation. The agency's Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC) is also taking issue with a controversial cleaning verification procedure required by the proposed regulation, echoing concerns from environmentalists.
