摘要

EPA Region VIII officials are beginning to address fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from oil and gas drilling operations in the Mountain West.an emerging concern for the agency as well as environmentalists who plan to petition EPA later this month to force pollution cuts at drilling sites. The region has recently gone on the record opposing a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) prepared by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to allow an 800-well natural gas drilling project in Northeastern Utah.over concerns that BLM failed to conduct a proper analysis on how the project will impact the national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) for both PM2.5 and ozone.
