EPA and Federal Land Management Agencies Sign Memorandum of Understanding Addressing Air Quality Impacts from Onshore Oil and Gas Operations on Federal Lands

On June 23, 2011, the U.S. Department of the Interior (on behalf of the Bureau of Land Management, the Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Park Service), the Department of Agriculture (on behalf of the U.S. Forest Service) (collectively "land management agencies"), and the Environmental Protection Agency executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding analyses and mitigation of air quality impacts related to onshore oil and gas exploration and production operations approved on federal public lands under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), 42 U.S.C. para. pars.4321-4347.
