EPA Agrees to Act on New Jersey Plan Addressing Fine Particles Near Philadelphia

The Environmental Protection Agency has agreed to deadlines to act on New Jersey's implementation plan submittals addressing fine particulate matter standards, in response to a lawsuit brought by the Sierra Club (Sierra Club v. Perciasepe, D.D.C., No. 12-1237, proposed consent decree filed 8/6/13). EPA will accept public comments through Sept. 6 on a proposed consent decree filed in federal court Aug. 6, according to a notice scheduled to be published Aug. 7. Terms of the settlement cannot be finalized until EPA considers public comments.
