摘要

EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy is rejecting concerns that EPA's greenhouse gas (GHG) standards for existing utilities do not sufficiently credit early actions from her home state of Massachusetts and other leading states, arguing their early efforts at regulating GHGs and increasing renewables and energy efficiency have already provided significant benefits. Asked at an Oct. 24 event at Georgetown University to respond to concerns that the proposal would penalize states such as Massachusetts that have already aggressively invested in clean energy, McCarthy first responded with a joke: "Since I'm from Massachusetts, I can say this: 'Waah, waah, waah.'"
