EPA Revises Export Provisions Of CRT Rule To Tighten Reporting Mandates

EPA has finalized revisions to a waste rule governing the recycling and reuse of cathode ray tubes (CRTs), tightening reporting requirements to better track CRT exports and ensure their safe management abroad by defining who is responsible for submitting exporter notices and requiring annual reports of used CRTs sent abroad for recycling, rather than one-time notices of intended shipments.EPA is also requiring exporters to include more details on where the CRTs will be sent for recycling or reuse in the receiving country. And the agency is requiring that business records maintained by exporters of used CRTs slated for reuse be translated into English upon request, according to the final rule, published in the June 26 Federal Register.
