EPA Expands Reporting Requirements For CRT Exports to Improve Tracking

The Environmental Protection Agency has finalized revisions to export regulations for cathode ray tubes (CRTs) as part of the agency's effort to enable better tracking and management of the waste streams (79 Fed. Reg. 36,220). The final rule, published in the June 26 Federal Register, requires exporters to provide additional information on all interim and final destinations for the used CRTs and mandate annual reports from exporters of the used CRTs sent for recycling. The EPA also would expand reporting requirements for used CRTs exported for reuse to improving tracking of those waste streams. Currently, exporters must provide a one-time notice for used CRTs exported for reuse.
