Ten states and environmentalists are outlining their objections to a proposed revised consent decree that eliminates a $3 million payment for a clean air mitigation project Harley-Davidson previously agreed to pursue with the American Lung Association (ALA), arguing that dropping the project without an equivalent replacement is not in the public interest. Their objection comes after the Department of Justice (DOJ) in August moved to enter a revised consent decree in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in United States of America v. Harley-Davidson, Inc. The settlement was originally negotiated a year earlier by the Obama administration but had not yet been entered by the court.
