摘要

Engineers Australia has declared the Fish River Water Supply Scheme and the Bathurst Wastewater Treatment Plant national engineering heritage landmarks. EA national president Julie Hammer unveiled commemorative plaques at Oberon Dam and at the Bathurst plant on 6 September. Bathurst and Oberon are both located about 200km west of Sydney. The Bathurst Wastewater Treatment Works is the first sewage plant in Australia to bear a heritage plaque. Michael Clarke from the EA Sydney Division heritage committee said the facility is effectively an outdoor museum of sewage treatment technology. Built in 1916, it experienced many upgrades over the years, but the old structures were not demolished and remain in varying condition to this day.
