Feedback sought for proposed South Australian mine

After almost five years of preparation, BHP Billiton has released the draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for the proposed expansion of its mining operations at Olympic Dam in northern South Australia. The EIS, prepared by Arup and ENSR Australia (now AECOM), will be on public display until 7 August, during which time submissions can be made about the proposed expansion. The company will then collate the submissions and produce a supplementary EIS responding to the issues raised.
