Heart-warming response to disasters

Queensland faced significant social and economic challenges this year due to the impacts of the widespread floods and cyclone Yasi. These disasters tragically claimed lives and placed our communities under stress for extended periods. The response from the engineering team to these disasters has been heartwarming, with members from around the country offering their technical expertise to support our communities. Our members also actively contributed to both the emergency response and disaster recovery efforts through their involvement in community groups or through their employer. Of course, we must not forget the many local government engineers who provided leadership and a solid foundation on which their communities could rely.
