The psychology of engineering

It is not often one comes across people from other professions that devote their working careers to the engineering environment. So when I came across a presentation by registered psychologist Dr David Stevens from Parsons Brinckerhoff, I was intrigued. He was addressing an audience of graduates and academic staff from the top 16 university business schools from around the world at the I-LEAD conference sponsored by UWS. His presentation focused on critical relationship building, particularly in the context of large complex projects. I caught him on his mobile in a taxi on his way to the airport, enroute to facilitating a workshop for participants in a major resource industry project in South Australia.
