"Things fall apart; the center cannot hold," wrote William Butler Yeats in the volatile era between two World Wars. Yet some of humanity's most vital institutions are built to last. Courthouses, not surprisingly, are constructed for 50 years and more of continuous and intensive service. For this reason, J.E. Dunn Construction received the Honor Award, the General Services Administration's highest accolade, in March 2001. The award was granted in the Construction Excellence category for J.E. Dunn's work on the Charles Evans Whittaker U.S. Federal Courthouse in downtown Kansas City, MO.
