The attack on the world trade Center blew a 110-story hole in the life of Denise DeAngelis. The morning of Sept. 11 she was on the phone with her husband, Robert J. DeAngelis, as the second hijacked airplane swooped toward its target. Robert DeAngelis purchased materials and equipment for Washington Group International's recently acquired Raytheon unit on the 91st floor of World Trade Center Tower Two. He had evacuated his office after the first plane hit Tower One, but returned from the building's lobby after being told that all was safe by Port Authority of New York and New Jersey employees, says Denise. When he returned to his office, he called home and described the unfolding drama to Denise as she watched on television.
