The science of hurri-cane prediction has improved dramatically in recent years, but less obviously, so has the science of predicting damage likely to occur in an onrushing storm. Improved damage forecasting lets infrastructure managers start gathering resources days ahead of landfall, matching crews and materials heading into a strike zone to the likely extent of damage.
