Navigation and software giant Trimble Navigation is acquiring the 3D modeling tool Sketchup from Google. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the application has become widely used in design and construction during the time the Mountain View, Calif.-based search giant has owned the company. SketchUp allows users to build 3D models that can be exported to other design programs, including some popular BIM software suites.
