Bridge Rehabilitation Becoming More Viable

The 2013 Report Card for America's Infrastructure, developed by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), rates one in nine bridges as structurally deficient. Funding from federal, state and local governments must increase by $8 billion anually to "eliminate the nation's bridge backlog by 2028." Given that most bridges in the U.S. were built from the 1940s to 1960s, more bridges will require attention in coming years.
