Boat-Lift Bulkhead Gets Design-Build Solution to Save Time and Money

The Caven Point Marine Terminal in Jersey City, N.J., was severely impacted by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. It's home to the United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) working fleet and serves as the base for rescue missions on the eastern seaboard. The USACE chose Simpson & Brown Marine Construction to complete a boat-lift bulkhead that needed to be able to provide vertical support for the lift hoists while resisting horizontal soil and crane loads, without tiebacks.
