There are many perspectives about the gap between low productivity in British industries and high productivity in other nations' industries. Some of these perspectives have an internal (national) focus and some have an external (international) focus. Perspectives with an internal focus were considered in the last edition of EM. This article presents a review of British perspectives on productivity which have an external focus. These are considered in two categories. Perspectives about other nations' physical assets are assessed in the next section. Then, perspectives about other nations' human resources are appraised. In conclusion, the impact of these productivity perspectives is discussed.
