Prototyping PCBs has traditionally been a slow and expensive process. However, a handful of forward-looking companies are currently trialing a unique, new system that promises to radically cut both the time and costs involved. EM&T talks to Richard Watson of PCB fabricator Speedboard about the new technology. Developed by Scotland-based Sigtronics Ltd, Kwikboard(tm) Technology is a breakthrough in rapid PCB prototyping. The innovative system permits a double-sided prototype PCB to be manufactured in just four to eight hours and, when used in conjunction with fast turn assembly resources, a complete prototype board can be manufactured from CAD input, assembled, tested and returned to the customer within 24 hours.
