One of the complications of operating in a high mix - low volume environment is inventory management. One way of keeping stores down and component availability high is splitting component reels. But do the pros outweigh the cons? Michael Bloor argues that they do not. "Wre split reels to save money". "We hold less stock that way". "It helps us to control our stock". These are three reasons I have been given recently for splitting component reels before issuing them to production.
