Although heat sink selection should ideally take place early in the design process, this is rarely the case. So as products approach the critical release time they often have one or more devices that are still too hot. Fortunately, there are a number of solutions for situations in which the space allocated for cooling purposes is already defined, yet traditional heat sinks do not provide adequate cooling.
