While Wall Street analysts are calling for an end to the chip cycle as early as next year, some industry observers have prophesized a 10-year boom on the unprecedented demands of the "new economy." Cahners In-Stat Group forecasts semiconductor industry expansion well into 2002, based on the solid fundamentals continuing to take shape. Chip capacity constraints continue, average selling prices (ASPs) still have room to increase, and demand shows no signs of slowing.
