The invention of the transistor made it pos-sible for engineers to use digital logic. This approximation of nature uses binary logic to implement functions that provide both computational and human-interface functions. The processes vendors use in fabricating ICs makes it possible for most designers to achieve success simply by knowing logic design and ignoring the reality of the physical laws governing electrical-circuit behavior.
