Monday morning began as any other day for EDM Zap technician, Rob Oman. As a Zap technician, Rob is used to traveling on a moment's notice into a variety of different customer facilities. On this particular Monday, Rob was in for something a little different. Rather than traveling to an industrial park, Rob headed out to the corn fields. Mammoth wind turbine generators have sprung up around the country. Some units are showing their age and require maintenance on the large gear sets used to orient the nacelle into the wind, and pitch the blades for optimum power generation. Rob's task was to inspect one of the gears and take measurements for the development of a repair plan that will utilize a custom EDM cutting head.
