Established in, and named after, the era when Japan was blazing a trail towards becoming a modern nation, Meiji University has often taken the road less travelled since it was founded by three lawyers who were still in their twenties. While staying true to its founding principles of rights, liberty, independence and self-government, Meiji has sent out more than half a million graduates into the world during its 130-year history.
