Period market activity slowed down this August. As in the previous month, hire rates for larger vessels slipped, while smaller vessels gained further. The 1997-built pr vessel Saehan Capella (ex Gas Natalie; 3,214 cbm) was hired by Mitsui for one year at $222,500/month. Nitrochem hired the 2009-built f/r vessels Gas Grouper and Gas Snapper (35,000 Cbm each) at $550,000/month apiece for six months. We should expect some firmness in hire rates and period market activity from October when traders start restocking for winter and as the North Sea starts delivering cargoes at full potential.
