Volvo Penta has introduced a new inboard marine diesel for workboats and fast patrol craft The D13 comes in 700hp and 800hp versions and the maker claims it combines good performance with low fuel consumption and minimal emissions, and is suitable for high-performance work boats requiring low life-cycle costs. "Volvo Penta's inboard diesels offer high torque from low rpm - a prerequisite for rapid and safe acceleration. The new diesel is equipped with a twin-entry turbo with pulse charging - in which the power in each exhaust pulse provides the pulse pressure", the company states.
